Hi, I'm Dave Ely.
I was
raised in the Bismarck, North Dakota area and continue to live and work
here.
I
still find much of my inspiration in the people and wildlife of my home.
All of my work is unique to itself, made one at a time. I am a
self-taught carver and painter. My art interests lie in the
realistic portrayal of western and wildlife material in wood, paint,
stone, and steel.

|
The scope and variety of many art pieces demand custom work. This
enables my clients to fill their decorating or architectural needs.
Custom work also creates a one of a kind piece made expressly for ones
self. My art has been displayed in shows at
Reno NV, Denver CO, Bismarck ND, and Brookings SD.
 |
My most
recent commissions are:
-
A life-size bear carving
-
An eagle carving for the movie
"Wooly Boys"
-
Work for the North American Bison
Co-Operative.
|
I do wood carving, stone carving,
steel sculpture, bone carving, bone sculpture, paintings, and
illustration work. My wood carvings range from life size,
miniature, ultra high detail to a caricature "rough"
style. The paintings are all high detail in a realist style.
